The extremely rare iridescent opal-like play of colour is shown in this fine specimen. The effect of the light passing through the various layers of aragonite and conchiolin mineralisation results in the most amazing, exotic Iridescent shell, with an intense lilac, yellow & green - Opal-like fire. A Certificate of Authenticity is included., Unidentified species, Approx 10cm dia.. Jurassic period approx 180 million years old, from Madagascar.
